1 · The Reality of Autism in Children Worldwide

Before diving into this report, I could never have imagined how severe the situation for children with autism truly is, as I had rarely encountered it in my daily life. Yet as of March 21, 2024, approximately 70 million people worldwide are diagnosed with autism, affecting about 1 in every 150 children.

Since 2002, autism diagnosis rates have steadily risen. The most recent data shows that today, 1 in 44 individuals is diagnosed with autism.

This article highlights the state of global children’s education. To begin, let’s review some key statistics. Currently, there are approximately 1.4 billion students and 65 million teachers worldwide. However, disparities in the allocation of educational resources remain significant. Around 61 million children of primary school age and 32 million of lower secondary school age are not in school. One-fifth of adolescents do not complete secondary education. Even more concerning is the fact that 250 million children globally cannot read or write, and 750 million adults are illiterate, two-thirds of whom are women. These figures starkly illustrate the severity and imbalance of global education development.

According to a joint report by UNICEF and the World Bank, approximately 333 million children worldwide live in extreme poverty, representing one-sixth of the global child population. These children face challenges across many areas, and this report highlights a few as guidance for Daram's continued efforts.

4 · The Challenges and Solutions for Children's Safety on the Internet and Social Media

According to a report by the International Telecommunication Union, one in three children worldwide has access to the internet at home. Additionally, UNICEF data shows that every half-second, a child goes online for the first time. This digital wave has created unprecedented opportunities for learning and social interaction among children.

7 · The Convention on the Rights of the Child: An Overview and Analysis 

I. Background and History  

The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on November 20, 1989, and officially enacted on September 2, 1990, represents a landmark achievement in human rights protection during the 20th century. It is the first international legal document to comprehensively outline the rights of children.
